This past weekend, I had the most wonderful staycation at The Redondo Beach Hotel with my friend Jonilyn Brown of My Curated Closet. It was so incredible to actually explore the South Bay for a weekend! Since moving here, I haven’t been able to get out much and explore this area (most of my friends live in Santa Monica or on the East Side, so I drive over there every chance I get). We arrived on Friday night and stayed until Sunday morning, with a bunch of activities in between. Read on to see what we did!
On the first night, we got dinner and chilled in the hotel. We could connect our iPhones to the TV, so we watched Big Little Lies on HBO Go. A pretty chill night, but we were both tired from the week. We woke up early on Saturday to catch the full breakfast down in the lobby. For a not full service hotel, the breakfast was great! Complete with fresh fruit, homemade waffles, bagels, eggs, bacon, and coffee. We brought our breakfast to our room and stayed in bed a bit more before starting the day! After breakfast, we used the rental bikes on the property and biked along the beach all the way to Manhattan Beach. I HIGHLY recommend doing this if you stay in the South Bay. Beach cruisers are great for exploring the area since you can get farther without having to walk that much. The weather was absolutely beautiful this day.
We stopped to get lunch at The Gum Tree Cafe, which is the cutest little spot in Hermosa. They have an adjacent store complete with boho goodies galore, so I was in love. With full bellies and a few snapshots from the Gum Tree Store, we biked back to the hotel. When we got there, Jonilyn mentioned she had coupons for free massages through an app called Joiful, so we booked one right then and there for that afternoon! The rest of the day was filled with a sunset shoot, some poke from my fav local spot Jus Poke, and some ONEHOPE Wine (of course)!
On Sunday, we had another full breakfast and checked out. It’s amazing what a staycation can do for your soul. I encourage everyone to take a day or two off from the stresses of every day life, just breathe and go with the flow of the day. You will go back to your job and life’s responsibilities with a new sense of purpose and renewal. Even if I was working this entire trip, it was in the company of a great friend and I felt rejuvenated, just by switching up my surroundings.
I hope you enjoyed the recap as much as I enjoyed the stay!
