I haven’t posted too much inside my house since I’ve moved to Redondo Beach, but I love it inside my little bungalow. I usually spend the mornings making coffee and playing with my kitty, Penny, before heading to work for the day. On weekends, if I am not being a weekend warrior (which I usually am), I love to make breakfast at home. For me, my home is my sanctuary. I can wear whatever I want to wear and be whoever I want to be- not that I am not myself outside my home… But I can sing loud and dance and wear no pants, etc. at home. One thing I do always wear inside is a pair of slippers. My last pair of slippers were from Christmas from Nordstrom Rack and had no soles or cushion left in them. Needless to say, I needed an upgrade. Something with harder soles that I could walk around and be comfortable in. When I found T&N Collection, they had just what I was looking for- comfortable slippers that I can wear inside and outside!
With temperatures in the 80’s in LA these past few days, I’ve officially ditched my winter shoes for something lighter! I love sandals of all kinds this spring, from high-heeled to wedges. (Are wedges considered sandals?!) Either way, sandals and wedges are a way to make any look spring-y. They can even make jeans or a long-sleeve dress in season! I recently got one of my favorite sandals from Shoes of Prey, a really cool brand that lets you design your own pair of shoes. I’ve been wearing them almost every day to work, they are so comfortable. Keep reading to find out the other sandals I chose for spring!
If there are two trends to stay on top of this spring, I would have to say they are hats and floral print. At least if you dress somewhat bohemian like I do. I love floral for spring (actually all year round)… but the print definitely makes a huge comeback around the spring time. I love mixing the print with wide brim hats, which are also huge this spring. Combining the two trends gives you a really effortless, relaxed bohemian vibe.
If there’s one item I could wear for the rest of the spring and summer season, it would be a wrap dress. They are so easy to wear, just throw one on and boom you’ve got an entire outfit. Not only that, but also they are forgiving and flattering for all body shapes and sizes. For festival season, I’ll give you all a spoiler of one of my outfits, it’s a wrap dress! (lol) I may or may not be wearing it over some shorts and a bralette… Either way, wrap dresses come in all different patterns and fabrics and they are a great option for a flattering spring look.
When I started my blog, I named it “Bohemian” by the Bay for the definition of the word: a person who has informal and unconventional social habits, especially an artist or writer. I still abide by it’s meaning and I want my blog to be a source of inspiration where people feel like they can be inspired by my looks, yes, but I also want people to be inspired to create their own looks that are just as unconventional, just as unique, and just as YOU. I want people to feel welcome here, and I want to encourage everyone to be their most authentic self. I want people to feel like they too can be anyone they wish or create anything they want to be. YOU ARE AUTHENTICALLY YOU.
Temperatures are starting to rise, days are getting longer thanks to Daylight Savings, and I can’t wait for my wardrobe to match these conditions! While it’s still been semi cold in Redondo Beach thanks to wind and fog from the ocean, there have been some beautiful days near the ocean. On this particular day shooting with my friend Jonilyn Brown in Manhattan Beach, it was almost 80 degrees!! The weather made me so excited for summer. I chose to wear these tapered pants from Karen Klein Fashion, an SF based fashion brand with chic, feminine and creative pieces. It’s essential to wear loose clothing on hot days! Paired with an oversized black tee from Honey Coast USA, this was the perfect combo.
Embroidery is not just for floral patterns these days. One of the coolest trends I’m seeing is embroidered sayings on everything from T-shirts to jeans to denim jackets. I’m all about the details of whatever I wear, I think they make all the difference, so naturally I was on board with this trend. One of the cutest embroidered sayings that I’ve seen so far is on this T-shirt from Honey Coast USA. The embroidery says “Ok, but first cuddle.” I’m pretty sure this is a spinoff of the popular saying, “Ok, but first coffee,” coined by Alfred Coffee. Either way, it’s totally cute and I’m in love with the saying (and Alfred Coffee).
